PlayMakers: Red, In the Next Room (or the vibrator play)Vivienne is in her tenth season as Artistic Director of the renowned Chautauqua Theater Company and Conservatory. For CTC, she has directed Amadeus, Much Ado About NothingMeasure for MeasureA Soldier's Tale, The Skin of Our Teeth, and several workshops of new plays by writers including Kate Fodor, Zayd Dohrn, Anna Ziegler, and Michael Galemco. Benesch has worked extensively as a director for The Juilliard School, The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, and last year brought CTC's acclaimed production of Amadeus to the Virginia Arts Festival featuring PlayMakers company member Ray Dooley. As an actress, Benesch has worked extensively on and Off-Broadway, in film and television and at many of the country's most celebrated theaters. Of recent note, she performed with Maggie Smith in the London revival of Edward Albee's The Lady from Dubuque. In 2005, she received an OBIE Award for her performance in Lee Blessing's Going to St. Ives. She is a graduate of Brown University and NYU's Graduate Acting Program and served for five years as chair of the theatre panel for the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (YoungArts).
