In the Classroom

PlayMakers Repertory Company sends professional Teaching Artists into your classroom to prepare students to attend our shows and/or explore curriculum based themes.  We work with you to develop a residency tailor-made to fit your needs.  The teaching artists can help contextualize the world of the play for your students and also offer interactive lessons that seamlessly support your curriculum.  We build residencies that are focused on either a particular show in our season or based solely on your curriculum needs.  From mathematics to science to literature to world history and beyond, we will work with you to develop a specific workshop based upon your needs.  The cost of a teaching artist is $75 per hour.

Programs
The Parchman Hour Residency

This residency will be built around our production of The Parchman Hour, an original piece by Mike Wiley chronicling the Freedom Riders journey during the Civil Rights Movement.

Henry V Residency

This residency will be built around our production of Shakespeare’s Henry V.  Our teaching artist will explore Shakespeare’s use of language and imagery while discussing the issues surrounding war, responsibility and leadership present within Henry V.

Student Matinee Residency

Residencies are also available for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf  and Noises Off.

Curriculum Focused Residency

These residencies can take many forms. From mathematics to science to literature to world history and beyond, we can work with you to develop a specific workshop based on your needs and curriculum.
