Community Events

PlayMakers is coming to a venue near you! Below are some of our ongoing community-based programs that are designed to take you behind-the-scenes and to provide you with a deeper understanding of the art of making theatre. At these events you'll meet directors, actors and designers, at intimate, conversation-driven events.

PlayMakers invites you to join us for a series of community events focused on the themes of gentrification and community displacement raised by A Raisin in the Sun and Clybourne Park. We're offering film screenings, spoken word poetry performances and a very special Vision Series event featuring Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning Clybourne Park playwright Bruce Norris. We hope you'll join us.

This hugely popular series invites you to join us in the Paul Green Theatre for hors d'oeuvres and the chance to learn about a production in process. Meet the director and get a behind-the-scenes look at the design and vision for our shows. These events are free and begin at 6:30pm.

In partnership with the Durham County Library, PlayMakers offers a series of conversations with artists and scholars about the work we put on stage. These free events are scheduled throughout the season.

“Just keep PlayMakers coming to talk. This was the best program ever!” –Library Patron
