Box Office Manager
The Box Office Manager works to ensure high-quality customer service with accurate and timely management of revenue and managing a staff of undergraduate employees. This includes but is not limited to: scheduling students; training students to use ticketing software (Tessitura); participating in daily sales transactions; fielding questions or concerns from patrons, colleagues and students; working nights of shows in the Box Office during performances to ensure patrons have a meaningful experience while attending a play; and assisting the Box Office supervisor in maintaining accurate financial records.
The successful candidate would need to direct daily box office operations; recruit, train and supervise 20 student customer service representatives; manage operations of Box Office and staff for daily shifts and nights or show or assign management staff to this role. This candidate will also work with patrons, professionals, students and colleagues to resolve critical issues such as ticketing problems, mobility issues, late seating, facility maintenance and general public relations.
This person will initiate proactive communications to patrons and potential patrons regarding PlayMakers Repertory Company’s policies, procedures, amenities, and any special circumstances that might impact their experience. The candidate will also conduct over-the-counter and phone ticket sales transactions; operate a computerized ticketing system, with a particular emphasis on Tessitura knowledge and experience; conduct the daily reconciliations of receipts with daily reports and make deposits; and work closely with Marketing, Development, Finance, and other departments to pursue departmental and organizational goals.
In addition, the selected candidate will assist internal constituent members as needed in a variety of customer service tasks, and assist in hiring decisions regarding box office personnel.
