
Trezana Beverley

Winner of the coveted Tony Award for her performance in For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf, actress/director/singer Trezana Beverley has created a unique signature in the American Theatre. Blue Door marks her seventh season as a guest artist at PRC. Her production of Salome during the 2003-04 season heralded by American Theatre Magazine as among the top five productions of Salome in the United States that year.
The seamless fusion of choreography and acting weigh heavily in the signature directing style of Trezana, which she labels DanzActingTM. Trezana is a regular guest directing artist on the theatre faculty of Juilliard School in New York and the co-founder and artistic director of her production company, OdDsocks Productions. Prior to Blue Door, Ms. Beverley directed the Darker Face of the Earth by poet laureate, Rita Dove, at the New York Actors Theatre. Earlier this year, Ms. Beverley was featured in the role of Medea for Take Wing and Soar Productions. In February, she will perform the role of King Lear.
